We need your help in 2018

Mark Merrington

2017 was a busy year in Hampton Wick.

We’ve had lots of fun. The HWA Fish & Chip Quiz Night was a great success, we enjoyed working with the Friends of King’s Field and St John’s Church to organise the Big Picnic and we’re now recovering from the excitement of the carol singing and visit from Father Christmas.

We’ve kept a watch on planning and transport – we’ve had development plans improved, parking controls amended and we’re now campaigning to save our historic street name signs.

We’ve improved our Library. Our sub-group, the Friends of Hampton Wick Library, has transformed the gardens, successfully lobbied for improved signage and run a series of talks and exhibitions.

We’ve shown respect and remembrance. Hampton Wick turned out in huge numbers for the Remembrance Sunday procession and service. Throughout the year Alison Merrington has been adding to the Hampton Wick Remembers project, and gave a brilliant talk on 1917 and its impact on Hampton Wick.

We’ve informed and promoted Hampton Wick with this website, noticeboards, an email news service and a Twitter account.

But, we’re just a small group of volunteers who give up their time to do all this. As 2017 draws to a close please, PLEASE, join or renew your HWA membership and PLEASE consider joining the committee or offering to volunteer in other ways in 2018 Contact me – membership@hamptonwick.org.uk – to discuss how you can help keep the HWA working for everyone who lives, works or plays in Hampton Wick.

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

Mark Merrington
