Hampton Wick Big Jubilee Picnic

Thursday 16th June 2022

Hampton Wick Big Jubilee Picnic

On 5th June, Hampton Wick’s popular Big Picnic returned after a two-year absence.

The Big Picnic is organised jointly by the Hampton Wick Association, St John’s Church and the Friends of King’s Field. We started the Big Picnic in 2016 to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday so it was particularly appropriate that the post-COVID return came in time to celebrate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee!

The weather forecasters kept us in suspense with predictions of heavy rain and thunder. However, on the day the rain stayed away and we had record visitor numbers.

People brought picnics of all shapes and sizes. Others enjoyed the BBQ and amazing home-made ice creams from Pistachio’s cafe.

We all enjoyed the live music, while the children bounced on the bouncy castles, zipped along the zip-wire, had their faces painted and were entertained by Gina’s balloon models (more like balloon sculptures!).

And who would have thought that so many would have so much fun with good old Splat the Rat?

Many thanks to everyone who helped make this such an enjoyable day for everyone. See you next year!
