AGM 2026

Sunday 22nd March 2026

AGM 2026

Bullen Hall was packed out for Association’s Annual General Meeting on 19th March. A total of 51 people attended to hear the Chairman’s report of the year and the Treasurer’s report, and to ratify the committee and officers.

Click here for details of the committee for 2026.

The main item discussed under Any Other Business was the council’s latest parking proposals which will see an unknown number of single yellow line parking spaces converted to double yellow lines, with consequent loss of evening and overnight parking. More information is available here.

Annie Murray announced the formation of a new HWA Book Club which will meet on the first Friday of every month at Hampton Wick Library.

The formal AGM was followed by a talk about Hampton Wick playwright RC Sherriff, given by Pete Allen, director of the RC Sherriff Trust. There were some technical hitches with the Bullen Hall AV equipment, but Pete’s preparedness and the willingness of everyone to move the furniture around meant that the talk could go ahead.

And we were so glad that it did! Pete is a terrific speaker and his presentation really brought to life Sherriff and his works, and the impact they had and continue to have. Although best known for the iconic WW1 play ‘Journey’s End’, Sherriff was also a highly successful Hollywood screenwriter and an accomplished novelist. Several audience members had recently read his novels ‘A Fortnight in September’ and ‘The Hopkins Manuscript’ and enthusiastically concurred with Pete’s appreciation of these little known works.

We would like to thank Pete, and all the HWA members who came along and made this such a friendly and enjoyable evening.
