A Buzzing Good Night Out

Hampton Wick was all abuzz on Wednesday 29th April, when the HWA held its annual Quiz Night Supper in Bullen Hall.
Thirty-four people in eight teams took part in the quiz masterminded by Mark Merrington.
The first half was in traditional pub-quiz style, plus a movie-themed picture quiz. At the half-way mark, scores were close with the Hampton Wick Globetrotters and No Eye Deer tied for first place.
A delicious supper from Eleana’s Bistro was served and everyone enjoyed drinks from the bar before the exciting new “fingers-on-buzzers” round got underway.
Each team had a buzzer connected to a central computer. The first team to buzz and answer correctly scored 10 points but wrong answers were punished with a 10 point deduction. The teams raced up and down the leaderboard until the very end, when the Great Diggers and Taking Liberties were tied on 230 points each before the last question – a “guess the TV theme tune” puzzler. BUZZ! Taking Liberties got in first with the correct answer.
Congratulations to team Taking Liberties, comprising Jim Millard, Helen Baxter and Liz Tidhar – this year’s winners of the famous Hampton Wick Milk Bottle trophy!
